OpenStudy (ronaldbraden):

What is a theme

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

A theme is a sort of life lesson that a reader can imply after reading a text.

OpenStudy (torvela):

Theme: The message the author wants to get across to the reader.

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

Some examples of themes include, "Money can't buy happiness", "Slow and steady wins the race", "Believe in yourself", "Don't talk to strangers", etc. It can also be a philosophical question that the reader is left with after reading the text. Some examples include, "If it better to lead a life of ignorance or bliss?, or "What is worth dying for?"

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

Be careful not to confuse theme and tone. Many do. A theme cannot be one word. Unlike theme, tone is simply the general feeling you are left with after reading. Some examples include, "thoughtful", or "melancholy".

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

Theme is a lesson, moral, or thought you are left with.

OpenStudy (torvela):

Well i think theme more commonly confused with topic

OpenStudy (torvela):

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):
