WILL MEDAL A snowmobile travels 32 miles in 2 1/3 hours. To the nearest tenth, what was the average speed of the snowmobile?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Average of any quantity is defined over an interval of time

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Average speed=(net distance traveled)/(total time taken)

OpenStudy (moldybubblegum11):

is this right? 13.7142857

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Have a look at units of measurement first: miles = (miles per hour) (hours). We want "speed," in miles per hour. Divide distance (miles) by time (hours). Thus, divide 32 miles by 2 1/3 hours. Don't leave off the units of measurement!

OpenStudy (maternalbore):

thank you :>

OpenStudy (mathmale):

It might be. But...you cannot justify using that many decimal places, and you MUST include the units of measurement.

OpenStudy (shansha1):

u right
