The miller's wife had waited long, The tea was cold, the fire was dead; And there might yet be nothing wrong In how he went and what he said: Which stylistic or literary device does the author use in these lines? A.assonance B.end rhyme C.alliteration D.internal rhyme

OpenStudy (vmoniqueg):

I think figurative language

OpenStudy (cortez19741968):

I need help!!!

OpenStudy (sapphiremoon):

I think it's end rhyme. There doesn't seem to be any figurative language (it's quite literal, in my mind), no assonance, and an internal rhyme isn't present. (What poem is this, I think I'd like to read it!) Welcome to OpenStudy!

OpenStudy (blazeryder):

Assonance takes place when two or more words close to one another repeat the same vowel sound but start with different consonant sounds. From: http://literarydevices.net/assonance/ End rhyme occurs when last syllables or words in two or more lines rhyme with each other. From: http://literarydevices.net/end-rhyme/ Alliteration is derived from Latin’s “Latira”. It means “letters of alphabet”. It is a stylistic device in which a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series. From: http://literarydevices.net/alliteration/ Internal rhyme is a poetic device which can be defined as metrical lines in which its middle words and its end words rhymes with each other. It is also called middle rhyme, since it comes in the middle of lines. From: http://literarydevices.net/internal-rhyme/
