Vertical stretching / shrinking if i shrink 2x+6 by a factor of 1/2 that becomes x+3 correct? as well if i stretch that by factor of 2 it becomes 3x+12? am i understanding vertical stretches and shrinking correctly?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

To shrink in half means to multiply by 1/2, \(\large\rm \frac12(2x+6)\) distributing 1/2 to each term, \(\large\rm x+3\) So yes you're right on that account :)

zepdrix (zepdrix):

How bout the stretch? \(\large\rm 2(2x+6)\) Hmm I don't think we get 3x, do we?

OpenStudy (coolkid1234):

@zepdrix, understood, 4x+12, sorry for horiztional, we multiply the X only correct? so it becomes x+6

OpenStudy (coolkid1234):

2x+6 sorry
