OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

How is this incorrect?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

http://prntscr.com/crifz6

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

I did -14=-16x^2 then 14/16=x^2 then square root of 14/16

OpenStudy (mrnood):

it is incorrect simply cos you haven't worked it out properly you have missed out an x

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

ooh.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

how do I solve it?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

is it sort of like the problems I did before?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

put the x into your equation then divide both sides by x

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

^no, don't do that... Just use factoring on the original problem. \[\large 0 = -16x^2 +14x \]factor out a common factor of -2x

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

wait so do I write something on the left of the =?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

If you do as I say the answer will be immediately apparent: I did -14x=-16x^2 divide by -16x

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

@MrNood I don't think you should recommend that method. I used to do it before wising up.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@agent0smith your method is exactly the same

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

If x=0, then no.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

recommend you follow agent0smith (from past experience)

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

Well, thank you to both MrNood and Agent0smith.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

:)
