Statistics: What does it mean to "interpret the slope in the context of this situation" ? They asked for the slope, which I have. But I don't know how to answer the question above.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

What is the situation?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

# of commerical airplane flights since 1990

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

And the slope is 233

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Okay so say the graph looks something along the lines of... |dw:1476134058315:dw| We could interpret the slope of that line as a linear upward trend of commercial flights since the year 1990 *Meaning, the number of flights since 1990 has gone up linearly at a rate of ___ Since you found your slope...I'm assuming it IS this type of situation so in that case we can say there were 223 more flights each year since the year 1990 *Since your equation would look something like y = 223x + c

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, so basically you just state what variables are involved and what the slope signifies (positive/negative trend)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

In the context of this problem that's really all there is to go on so that's good as any answer I would give :)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, thank you. The wording of the question sorta confused me.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Happens to the best of us :)
