A certain bank assigns one unique number to each savings account. The amount of savings in each account depends on how much the owner deposits into the account. The interest paid on each account depends on how much money is in the account. Which of these relations is not a function? (2 points) (savings account number, interest paid) (savings account number, amount in savings account) (interest paid, amount in savings account) (interest paid, savings account number
@tkhunny
@ShadowLegendX
@shaleiah
Stop tagging people ans start showing your work. What is a function? How does that definition relate to what you are asked to identify?
i think its A @tkhunny
@3mar help and explain
Well, I am here.
I think it's A because interest paid is dependent on saving account
It's not asking about independence. If you pick a savings account number, can you get more than one interest paid amount? If you pick a savings account number, can you get more than one total savings amount? etc... Does it mean: 1) Does the account number DRIVE the interest paid? 2) Does the account number DRIVE the interest paid? etc... Definitions. Not just your views.
@tkhunny No offense but you are explaining in such a way I don't understand ...... I'm only in 9th grade and you act and speak to me as if im in collage.... i barely understand what you type.... you're to sophisticated for me
There is nothing sophisticated about it. It's a definition. What is the definition of a function? It MUST be in your book or class notes or something. What is it?
Take it easy, RisingToTop! tkhunny does not mean that you get confused. Let's think quietly guys!
We are told: Deposits lead to account values. Account values lead to interest paid. Anything else? What are we TOLD and what is the definition?
I have no single clue.... my teacher did nothing similar to this
Have you heard of the "Vertical Line Test"?
The interest paid on each account depends on how much money is in the account.
So let me how you get it @RisingToTop!
Yes ive heard of it
That is the definition of a function. Pick the first value and see if you can get more than one of the other value. This is where we were a while ago. If you pick a savings account number, can you get more than one interest paid amount? If you pick a savings account number, can you get more than one total savings amount? etc...
WAIT so B???
because well it'd be the same number on a "graph" which would make it nnot a function!
Wait, RisingToTop how many values of amount in savings account for a single savings account number?
there is no number
this is the full question
let me explain and I am sure you will get it, In Sha' Allah
You're Muslim?
