How are religion and culture connected?
@Ms-Brains
What have you done so far?
Religion is one component that exists with a larger culture. The term culture refers to a set of practices or beliefs and often institutions that, collectively describes a specific population. The components of culture are always passed down from generation to generation, and can also include not only religious practice but also language mythology. So while religious practice may present one aspect of people’s culture, a much larger assessment of the culture as a whole. All civilizations had different religions and beliefs. Religion is something you believe in and culture is something you do

t should address the Essential Question: How are religion and culture connected? Consider the rise and fall of great civilizations in South and East Asia like the Indus River Valley civilization, the Deccan and Tamil kingdoms, the Maurya and Gupta empires, and the Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties of ancient China. What do all of these civilizations have in common? How did geographic factors help shape each civilization, and each developed distinct elements of culture, including religious and philosophical belief systems? Select one civilization from the ones that you have studied in your course and analyze the connections between religion and culture as well as how these contributed to the growth or decline of the civilization. Alternative Prompts: 1. How did Hindu beliefs support the caste system in India under Chandragupta, and how did this help keep order in society? 2. When Asoka converted to Buddhism and renounced violence, how were the beliefs of the people affected? 3. When the Zhou assumed the throne of Emperor in China, how was Legalism used to legitimize their reign? 4. Confucianism calls for an ordered family with social obligations among its members. How was this applied during the Zhou, Qin, or Han dynasties, and how was Confucianism in harmony with the concept of The Mandate of Heaven?

If it’s something your culture does you do it from when you’re born, it’s just naturally instilled in you. Everyone has different views on different things and especially religions.
