Law of exponents: \(b^x\times b^y=b^{x+y}\) Example: \(5^{1/7}+5^{3/7}=5^{1/7+4/7}=5^{5/7}\) Radicals mean use the sqrt sign, cube root signs, etc. Again, law of exponents: \(b^{y/x}=\sqrt[x]{b^y}\) Example: \(8^{2/3}=\sqrt[3]{8^2}\)
