In a certain town, the barometric inches of air pressure, x, on a certain day is described by two statements:
If 3 times the air pressure is increased by 2, the pressure is still less than 92 inches.
Twice the air pressure minus 39 is greater than 11 inches.
Part A: Create a compound inequality to represent the air pressure range. (3 points)
Part B: Can the air pressure in this town be 24 inches? Justify your answer by solving the inequalities in Part A. (3 points)
Part C: The average air pressure in another town is 29 inches but the actual pressure is within 4 inches of the average.

Hello mate
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
Hello!!!!!
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
I did the first equation, not sure if im correct
OpenStudy (will.h):
U r
OpenStudy (will.h):
Try to do the other

what was the first equation
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
\[2x-39>11\]
OpenStudy (will.h):
Correct for the 2nd
OpenStudy (will.h):
Now. Let's solve part A
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
what's a compound equality

Solve for x for each inequality
And then the range is the answer of x of each inequality
Like the following
X> 2 or x< 9
OpenStudy (will.h):
So did u solve them inequalities?
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
yeah working on it
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
1 min
OpenStudy (crazylizard102):
we have as long as you need

x = 30 on first equation
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
x = 25 on 2nd
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
the signs are left the same way
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
\[x <30\]
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
\[x >25\]

OpenStudy (will.h):
3x + 2 < 92
X< 30
The 2nd is 2x -39 > 11
X> 25
So the compound inequality is
25<X<30
OpenStudy (will.h):
Make sense?
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
yes yes
OpenStudy (will.h):
Good
Now that was A
Let's move to B shall we
OpenStudy (will.h):
In B they say can x= 24?
Would that make the inequality correct?

lets get back on topic now alright
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
Part B no because we get an outcomme to 25
OpenStudy (will.h):
Lol Thanks guys
So part B
The compound inequality we have is 25<X<30
If we say x= 24 would that be in the range of the right values that the inequality support.
Let's see
25< 24 (24 is not bigger than 25)
24<30 (24 is indeed less thab 30)
However since one of the parts is incorrect then x= 24 cannot be within the range.
OpenStudy (will.h):
Make sense?
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
i so was right

OpenStudy (will.h):
Okay
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
yes i did get it
OpenStudy (will.h):
So they gave us data. But I don't know what they want to find out
OpenStudy (crazylizard102):
well i got to go and help someone else before 9:50 if i'm not here for 45 min. after i'll be back at 1:15 in the afternoon or at this time tomarrow

Alright mate. See u later
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
The average air pressure in another town is 29 inches but the actual pressure is within 4 inches of the average. Write and solve an inequality to find the range of air pressure in this town.
OpenStudy (crazylizard102):
i can't belive this i was going to fan rising but he most of justed blocked me
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
O lololol
OpenStudy (will.h):
So anyway for C here's what I got
4<29<4
The average pressure is 29 but the real one could be within 4 of the average that means less than or bigger than 29 by 4
So we wrote inequality above idk if they are trying to link this inequality by the one we made in A
But the inequality I wrote above represent what they said

Will.H
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
how do i solve that
OpenStudy (will.h):
This is the inequality For C
X> 4 or X<4 and x= 29
So as compound inequality that would be
4<X<4
And they said x= 29 so
4<29<4
Make sense?
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
oooo
OpenStudy (will.h):
No no

i've got 1 last one
OpenStudy (will.h):
They are trying to link that for the one in part A hang on I'll explain
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
alright
OpenStudy (will.h):
X-4< 29
The other is
X+ 4>29
Solve for x for each
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
\[x <33\]

And you'll get ur answer
Such that
X<33
Or X>25
So the compound inequality be
25<X<33
Make sense?
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
yes
OpenStudy (will.h):
That's all mate
Hope that helps
OpenStudy (risingtotop):
okay it did actually lol alot... i really thank you
