OpenStudy (ivitt):

What is it you need help with?

KjSaif (kjsaif):

OpenStudy (salazar98):

I don't know

OpenStudy (ivitt):

@KJSaif You there? I'm putting together the problem.

OpenStudy (sapphiremoon):

When I encounter these problems, I usually try to turn the first number into 1 and multiply the second number by it. 1 and 2/5 is 7/5, so we multiply $3.36 by 5, then we have 7 lbs, and divide that by 7 to get the price of 1lb. Multiply that by 2 3/4 to find the answer. (Sorry for bad formatting)

OpenStudy (danjs):

Ill change the mixed fractions to improper ones to work with... Given --- 7/5 lb = $3.36 How much does 11/4 lb cost?? You can multiply by the given ratio, it is the same as multiplying by `1 \[\frac{ 11/4~~lb }{ 1 }*\frac{ $3.36 }{ 7/5~lb }\]

OpenStudy (danjs):

notice it is arranged so the lb unit cancels from top and bottom, leaving Dollars

KjSaif (kjsaif):

6.6?

KjSaif (kjsaif):

or no?

KjSaif (kjsaif):

@DanJS

OpenStudy (danjs):

sorry, yeah that looks good

KjSaif (kjsaif):

ok thanks :) @DanJS
