OpenStudy (bgarland2003):

Why do ribosomes read the virus's DNA instructions even though they came from the virus and not the cell's DNA? Thanks

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

they lack ribosomes and must use the ribosomes of their host cells to translate viral messenger RNA into viral proteins. Viruses cannot generate or store energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), but have to derive their energy, and all other metabolic functions, from the host cell. They also parasitize the cell for basic building materials, such as amino acids, nucleotides, and lipids (fats).

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

did that help?

OpenStudy (afro):

yea but i already had my quiz where i was doomed

OpenStudy (afro):

i mean exam so i think i got like allow grade but eh it helped

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

ok that's good...sorta lol :)

OpenStudy (bgarland2003):

A little but why would the cells ribosomes read the viruses DNA when it should know that it should only read the cells DNA?

OpenStudy (afro):

i mixed up a glycerol and a amino acid smh
