OpenStudy (quickstudent):

What is an appropriate conclusion to draw from the following statements? 1. Sally is a girl who likes to swim. 2. Natalie is a girl who likes to swim. 3. Penelope is a girl who likes to swim. 4. Jeanine is a girl who likes to swim Boys do not like to swim. Girls like to swim. <--- Correct? Sally, Natalie, Penelope, and Jeanine only swim in the summertime. Girls are the only ones who like to swim.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Mathematically (i.e. deductive reasoning only) none of the conclusions is correct. However, general and social conversations accept/assume some inductive reasoning, then, yes, I agree B is the least incorrect response.
