WILL FAN AND GIVE MEDAL! Tell if its a function (question in attachment)

OpenStudy (2551lw):

OpenStudy (2551lw):

@retirEEd I'm not 100% sure what its asking. Do you want me to put a screenshot of the full thing?

OpenStudy (retireed):

It is a line. Is a line a function?

OpenStudy (2551lw):

#23 only

OpenStudy (retireed):

Same question, Is a line a function?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

haha umm, the answer is yes this is a function because it is a bunch of ordered pairs of things (in our case the things will be numbers, but they can be otherwise), with the property that the first members of the pairs are all different from one. and every line is a function

OpenStudy (2551lw):

@RevanVar Thank youuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (revanvar):

so it looks like (from the screenshot) that you have to solve for #23

OpenStudy (2551lw):

@RevanVar yes sir

OpenStudy (revanvar):

h(2)=-4(2)+61 and h(7)=-4(7)+61

OpenStudy (revanvar):

you know how to solve that

OpenStudy (2551lw):

@RevanVar no not really lol, I absolutely suck at math.. and sadly I didn't pay attention in these lessons so I have no idea what I'm doing.

OpenStudy (revanvar):

haha ok np, what is -4 times 2

OpenStudy (2551lw):

-8

OpenStudy (revanvar):

and add 61 to that

OpenStudy (2551lw):

53

OpenStudy (revanvar):

so Y=-8+61

OpenStudy (revanvar):

y=53

OpenStudy (2551lw):

Thank you so much, oml, your a lifesaver!

OpenStudy (revanvar):

do you think you can do the next one or do you want my help?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

bc there were two answers for #23

OpenStudy (2551lw):

I thought I could do the second one on my own but idk... can you help?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

h(7)=-4(7)+61 this one too

OpenStudy (revanvar):

yeah sure i can help

OpenStudy (revanvar):

-28+61=y

OpenStudy (revanvar):

so Y=33

OpenStudy (revanvar):

and there you have it

OpenStudy (2551lw):

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I appreciate it so much. if you have time for more can you help? if not its totally cool

OpenStudy (revanvar):

yeah ive got time

OpenStudy (2551lw):

the highlighted ones

OpenStudy (revanvar):

ok so for # 25 what do you notice about the numbers

OpenStudy (revanvar):

1*5=5 5*5=25 25*5=125

OpenStudy (2551lw):

they all are using multiples of 5?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

correct so to find the next two times 125*5

OpenStudy (revanvar):

then that answer by 5

OpenStudy (2551lw):

625 3125 ??

OpenStudy (revanvar):

right! #27 they are all addition and you add 2.5 to each question

OpenStudy (revanvar):

number* not question

OpenStudy (revanvar):

so add 2.5 to 11.5 then 2.5 to that answer

OpenStudy (2551lw):

I got 14, then 16.5?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

thats right

OpenStudy (revanvar):

#29 i believe is a no

OpenStudy (revanvar):

and #31 i think is no also

OpenStudy (2551lw):

Thank you so much. I have a few graphing problems I need help on but I feel bad asking. But I do appreciate your help so much

OpenStudy (revanvar):

you helped me big time in history, i can you for the graphing problems

OpenStudy (2551lw):

OpenStudy (revanvar):

just curios what math is this

OpenStudy (2551lw):

Algebra 1A - Intro to functions. I'm retaking a class I didn't do so well on a while back so that's why I'm so confused rn

OpenStudy (revanvar):

your y-intercept is going to be 2 and your line will go 1 up and over to the left 1

OpenStudy (2551lw):

for 17 still? or are we on 15 now?

OpenStudy (revanvar):

is is continuous because the line will go on forever in both directions, definition of a line

OpenStudy (revanvar):

i skiped to 17

OpenStudy (revanvar):

now ill do 15

OpenStudy (2551lw):

oh okay, thanks

OpenStudy (revanvar):

ok for the next one your y intercept will be 24 and your slope will be -2

OpenStudy (revanvar):

this is not continuous because you will eventually run out of chairs and you cannot have negative chairs

OpenStudy (revanvar):

you got it?

OpenStudy (2551lw):

yes sir, again, thank you so much!
