OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

Helpp What's the only place in this world who's fahrenheit and celsius degrees can be equal? A. Alaska at -50 degrees B. Antarctica at -40 degrees C. Hawaii at 100 degrees D. Anywhere that exceeds freezing point

OpenStudy (tgstudios):

I think it can only be A or B

OpenStudy (phi):

the formula is \[ F= \frac{9}{5} C + 32 \] if both F and C are the same number, then you have \[ x= \frac{9}{5} x + 32 \]

OpenStudy (phi):

I would add -x (or -5x/5 if you like) to both sides as the first step in "solving for x"

OpenStudy (3mar):

https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ojhf2dpxmo Thanks for good illustration, phi! Hope that helps

OpenStudy (mrnood):

This question is very strangely worded. There are MANY places where it CAN be equal. There is only one TEMPERATURE where the scales are equal (as shown above) However - this temperature is possible in many (admittedly COLD) places on earth
