OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

co-interior angles are supplementary

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

angles on a straight line are supplementary

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

supplementary angles add together to give to 180°

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

for 15) you have \[(x+108)+(x+88) = 180\] solve for \(x\).

OpenStudy (ilovemath14):

x= -8 @UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yes! that is correct for 15)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

7) is very similar, can you set up the equation?

OpenStudy (ilovemath14):

For #15 the answer seems weird too me I don't have any negatives on my paper

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

So you got \(x=-8\), for 15) and you want to check it. The angles in the diagram are \[x+108\]and\[x+88\] But we found a value for \(x\) Which means the angles are really \[x+108=(-8)+108=100\]and\[x+88=(-8)+88=80\] Not only do these angles add to 180 (as they should) but they even look to be about the right measure on the diagram.

OpenStudy (ilovemath14):

Oh ok
