@quickstudent @sweetburger @ganeshie8 @HelpWithK12 Please help!!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Happy to be of help, Milo; don't get me wrong. But FIRST, I want to know what YOU have thought and what you have done in regard to this problem. What are YOUR tentative answers?

OpenStudy (milo123):

ok! well, i do think that triangle ABC is similar to triangle APQ

OpenStudy (milo123):

they are not congruent because they are not the same size, though

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes, the small triangle and the large triangle are similar, but not congruent. Very good.

OpenStudy (milo123):

Ok @mathmale :) Part B: Which line segment on triangle APQ corresponds to line segment BC? Explain your answer. line segment PQ corresponds with line segment BC ?

Directrix (directrix):

You could go with the AA Similarity Postulate as the reason that the two triangles are similar. △APQ ~ △ABC Look at the order of the vertices. Segment BC (second and third in line in the second triangle) corresponds to Segment PQ. (second and third in the line-up for the first triangle)>

OpenStudy (milo123):

The triangles have two congruent angles; therefore, triangle ABC is similar to triangle APQ by the AA criterion. @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Yes. You might want to call the reason "AA Postulate."

OpenStudy (milo123):

I think in my lesson it was called the AA criterion though:)

OpenStudy (milo123):

how does this sound for part a? too much? Part A: Triangle ABC is similar to triangle APQ. These two triangles are not congruent because congruent figures have the same shape and size. Similar figures, though, have the same angle measurements but may be different sizes. The triangles have two congruent angles; therefore, triangle ABC is similar to triangle APQ by the AA criterion.

Directrix (directrix):

They are congruent because of the Corresponding Angles Postulate. Corresponding <s from the parallel lines. Also, they are corresponding <s of similar triangles.
