OpenStudy (elise_a18):

when I'm finding the value of x in log functions, how do I know when to use log or ln? (common or natural log)

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

use the same on both sides. either ln or log will give u the same answer.

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

ex. 1500=25*2^.45x

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

is it .45?

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

is what .45? the value of x you mean?

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

what's in the power.

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

.45x

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

ok

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

naturally the log tables are given in base 10. while natural log in base e

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

so as log tables are given in base 10, prefer using that. but again use same thing on both sides. like

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

it doesn't give me e in the function

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

well e is associated with ln

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

natural log has base e
