The Kansas-Nebraska Act was very controversial. Why? It would allow slavery into Nebraska after they had already decided against it. Northerners wanted this, and the South didn't. For the first time, slavery could spread across the old Missouri Compromise line.

I was thinking the same thing.
By raiding Harper's Ferry, John Brown was hoping to _____. force slavery to be allowed in the North cause the South to secede from the North allow slavery in the West provide arms to the slaves
I'd say D. Because he was trying to start an ARMED slave revolt.
To many in the North, they were fighting to _____. keep the Union intact allow slavery to expand keep secession legal
B
The north did NOT want slavery, it's NOT B
I'm pretty sure it was rather to keep the 'Union' intact. it was the union vs confederates, and the North was the Unions, while the Confederates were trying to break away, (Which I think would be called a secession).
