OpenStudy (campayne):

State the domain and range of the function f(x) = x^2 - 1.

OpenStudy (hidden14):

Domain: All real numbers, as no matter what number you put as x, you will always get an answer. If it were 1/x, then the domain would be \[(-\infty, 0) \cup (0, \infty)\] since if you put a 0 in there, you don't get an answer. Range: All real number greater than or equal to -1, because no matter now low a number you put in there, the x^2 makes it positive, and you are just subtracting 1 from it. -2^2 and 2^2 are both 4, so the lowest number you can possibly get out of that function is -1, when x = 0.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

domain is the set of input values (x-values) range the set of output from lowest to highest (y- values)

OpenStudy (campayne):

i got it thank you all

OpenStudy (triciaal):

welcome
