so think about the greatest number that can divide into both 14 and 35. Let's make a list of factors.
14: 1 x 14, 2 x 7, so the factors are 1,2,7,14.
35: 1 x 35, 5 x 7, so the factors are 1,5,7,35.
Clearly, the greatest factor (and only common factor) is 7
