College Algebra!

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

lol u got wrong, anyway plug in y=0 and solve for x.

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

what?

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

so 0=(5+x)(4x^2-1)

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

okay but i don't know how to get the smallest x and the largest and stuff can u tell me the answers for those two?

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

u can separate the factors so 0=5+x and 0=4x^2-1 The smaller x is the smaller value of this 2 factors equal to 0

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

so the answer is 0?

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

no u need to do a little algebra x=-5 and the other x is 1/2

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

i come to open study because i literally don't know how to do these. It is so difficult and I literally cant comprehend the math that is why i am asking for the answers

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

here's how i got it for x=-5, you subtract 5 both sides for x=1/2, you add 1 both sides and square-root both sides Right I know what u mean :P

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

for factor 4x^2-1 = 0 the answer has 2 values x=-1/2 and x=1/2 becuz of the square root thing

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

ok im not getting this thanks anyways.

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

for the y-intercept you just plug in 0 for x. so f(x)=(0+5)(4(0)^2-1)

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

whaa? I gave u the answers too how come?

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

you gave me the answers? I don't even like understand what you're saying

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

i think im speaking in chinese than bleh :P

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

ok heres are the ans: for x-int: (-5,0),(-0.5,0), (0.5,0), y-int:(0,-5)

Atsie (atsie):

Oh for the love of my fridge............This is the awfulest dang thing I've seen yet. I haven't learned this yet. I'm still in 9th grade math as an 11th grader. That's how BAD I am at it!
