Eric wants to perform an investigation on red blood cells, but before beginning his investigation, he wants to learn more about them. Which of the following is an appropriate reference material that Eric could use to learn more about red blood cells? a newspaper editorial a science-fiction book about blood a friend from school a scientific journal
I'd go for a scientific journal. science fiction book could be absolutely anything, and may be fiction. better trust friend from school to know what they're talking about ! Editorial probably too "news paper speak" orientated. I don't really rate popular media coverage of science. Too dumbed down, glib, and "coffee table magazine pretty pretty". scientific journal - prob hard to digest/wade through - but peer reviewed which SHOULD mean that you can TRUST what you read. Whether you can UNDERSTAND what you read may is ... http://perendis.webs.com
The post doesn't indicate whether E is doing a school expt or whether it's Dr Eric, or Prof Eric. If it's the first one, then journal and some encouragement from an expert would help.
^^
Maybe someone should tell E to ask his expert if it is true that red blood cells carry oxygen (oxyhaemoglobin) from the lungs (acres of tissue, all folded up) to the bits of the body that need it (ie most if not all of it). They have 60, 000 miles of capillary/vein/artery tubing to allow them to do this, and it takes a relatively short time for blood to travel from "head to toe", so to speak.
