OpenStudy (biologybob):

Yo wuddup What important chemical does the chloroplasts contain?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

Think about the job of a chloroplast. They absorb the energy from the sun with the ultimate goal of using it for photosynthesis to make sugars. So if the sun's photons are being absorbed to create energy, the energies being created are the important chemicals. And these chemicals are called NADPH and ATP, the cell's energy currency. Does that make sense? @BiologyBob?

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Chloroplasts also contain and important chemical called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what allows the plant to be green. It job is to absorb visible light rays and reflect green pigment out, which is essentially why plants look green!
