3. What is the wavelength of radiation that has a frequency of 2.10 *10^14 s^–1? A) 6.30 *10^22 m D) 1.43 *10^–6 m B) 7.00  102 nm E) 3.00  108 m C) 7.00  105 m 4. Calculate the frequency of visible light having a wavelength of 486 nm. A) 2.06  10^14 /s D) 1.20  10^–15 /s B) 2.06 10^6/s E) 4.86  10^–7/s C) 6.17  10^14 /s

OpenStudy (jonm111):

oh god is it as simple as speed of light/ 2.10 * 10^14?

OpenStudy (harman.singh):

You can use the following formula to calculate either the frequency or the velocity: \[c=f \lambda \] - c is the speed of light (3e8 m/s) - f is the frequency - lambda (the Greek letter) is the wavelength

OpenStudy (harman.singh):

Oh I didn't see your reply. Glad you worked it out :)

OpenStudy (jonm111):

i got d for the first one, now for the second one I believe we have to convert from nm to m then use the formula

OpenStudy (harman.singh):

D would be correct for the first one. Yes, you will have to convert nm to m first. 1 nm. = 1e-9 m.

OpenStudy (jonm111):

C for the next question, bleh this was to simple, thanks :)

OpenStudy (harman.singh):

My pleasure!
