@SolomonZelman can help :D

OpenStudy (jakob):

Anyone help because this is the hardest thing I have done in my 10 years of school

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You are basically given that \(\color{black}{N_0=29~}\) grams \(\color{black}{k=0.1359~}\) (no units)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

what function do you then have? (rewrite with this given infor)

OpenStudy (jakob):

N=29e^-0.1359t

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes, good:)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Half life of a substance is the time that is required for this substance to reduce to half it's initial value. (i.e. After what time, will the amount substance be twice less?) Your current value is: \(\color{black}{N=29e^{-0.1359t} }\). At \(\color{black}{t=0 }\) you have \(\color{black}{N=29=N_0 }\). At what time would you get \(\color{black}{N=\frac{1}{2}N_0=14.5 }\) ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

At what time t, would your N(t) be half of the initial value (i.e. 14.5)? \(\color{black}{N=29e^{-0.1359t} }\) \(\color{black}{\color{blue}{14.5}=29e^{-0.1359t} }\) then solve for t.

OpenStudy (jakob):

546.947557 That was I got

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You can solve it 1. Using logarithms 2. by graphing (the function \(\color{black}{\small N(t)=29e^{\normalsize -0.1359t} }\) and the line \(\color{black}{\small N=14.5 }\))

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I don't think your solution s correct.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

have you learned logarithms?

OpenStudy (jakob):

NOPE

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So will do it by graphing.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You have a function \(\color{black}{N(t)=29e^{-0.1359t} }\), and you want to find the value of \(t\) for which \(\color{black}{N=14.5}\). So, basically, (in your case N is y, and t is x ;; i.e. you are graphing N versus t), you need to graph these two and find the \(t\) (or x) coordinate of the intersection.

OpenStudy (jakob):

OMG I am so Lost

OpenStudy (allauhakbar):

@ganeshie8 May I get some help?

OpenStudy (jakob):

is it 5.1 days?
