OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@Frostbite @Miracrown

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

thanks :*

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

can you find out what is phenocopy syndrome?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Well the word it self seems just to mean that a phenotype is trying to mimick that of a specific genotype. How it is done in practice I don't know.... yet!

OpenStudy (frostbite):

phenocopy: "An individual with a phenotype (often environmentally induced) mimicking one usually produced by a specific genotype." But in what context is this?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

I can see among others this term is used a lot in neurolog. e.i.: "‘Phenocopy’ frontotemporal dementia (phFTD) patients may clinically mimic the behavioral variant of FTD (bvFTD), but do not show functional decline or abnormalities upon visual inspection of routine neuroimaging."

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

okay i got it..:D so basically i have two syndromes that are the cause of mutation in one protein eg5. these syndromes they say are phenocpies of syndrome

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yolo baby

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

no...so the mutations mimic the same phenotype
