Fahrenheit 451 Why is he describing his blood as the scent of autumn? "he was a thing of horn and blood that would smell like autumn if you bled it out on the ground" (This is in part 3 right before Granger welcomes him)

I'm thinking that it's saying that he is a new person. Previously in the book, he described how Mildred was a new person after her blood was replaced. Montag could be talking about how he left his old life behind and now his blood smells like autumn (a part of nature), leaving all the city filled stuff behind. Can anyone add to that?
