OpenStudy (hhlppleasevv):

How can you quickly determine the number of roots a polynomial will have by looking at the equation?

OpenStudy (steve816):

By looking at the degree

OpenStudy (mww):

instantly. However the nature of those roots depends on your original polynomial. The Fundamental theorem of algebra states that a non-constant single variable polynomial of degree n has exactly n complex roots. If the coefficients are all real, then these complex roots occur in complex conjugate pairs.
