Which statement describes city life in the late 1800s and early 1900s? Urban planning helped many of the larger cities control the problems brought by rapid population growth. Air and water pollution was regulated first by state governments and then by the federal government. Health hazards from unsafe water were eliminated by the development of public waterworks. Finding adequate housing was a problem for many city residents, who were forced to live in tenements.

OpenStudy (bigbosssaint21):

City life in the early 1900 was extremely overcrowded and housing was the biggest issue by far but next to that was the sanity of the water and availability of food, water found in the inner city was usually run off or drainage which contained plenty of bacteria, and a government led waterworks program wasn't developed until the 30's and 40's.
