Question on multiplying square roots.

OpenStudy (zenmo):

\[\sqrt{90}*\sqrt{18}\]

OpenStudy (zenmo):

\[3\sqrt{10}*3\sqrt{2}=9\sqrt{20}\] is that correct? want to be sure

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

u may simplify it more \[9 \sqrt{20}=9 \sqrt{4}*\sqrt{5}\]

OpenStudy (zenmo):

Thanks

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You can also break up each number into its prime factors. This way you don't miss any of the simplification that need to be done. \(\sqrt{90} \times \sqrt{18} = \sqrt{2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 5 } \times \sqrt{2 \times 3 \times 3} =\) \(=\sqrt{ 2^2 \times 3^4 \times 5 } = 2 \times 3^2 \times \sqrt 5 = 18\sqrt 5\)
