A spinner has 12 equal sectors with different letters for each sector, as shown below: Hamlet spins the spinner 5 times, and it stops at the letter B 4 times. If he spins the spinner a 6th time, what is the theoretical probability that this time it will stop at the letter B? 1/12 1/10 1/5 1/4

OpenStudy (denniscohick1):

1/5 is my guess

OpenStudy (avi13):

i think it would be 1/12

OpenStudy (denniscohick1):

ok

OpenStudy (amorfide):

you have 12 equal sectors so each sector has a the same chance of becoming a result of a spin, that is 1/12 Each spin is independent, meaning the probability of getting any result on the spinner, is not affected by the result before it meaning, no matter what spin, every sector will have a 1/12 chance of occurring and therefore your theoretical probability is the chance of it happening, which is 1/12

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

ok thanks guys
