Why did mass decolonization occure in Africa following World War II?
Is it multiple choose question?
That is a very interesting question, though the answer is not simple
Before talking about de-colonization, we must also put it in another context as to what happened within non-colonized countries after WWII
For example Mao's cultural revolution
Frances 1968 uprising
US and the anti-Vietnam protests
Then you also have to look at Africa country by country to understand what happened where, and what support (or not) each one received.
I also draw your attention to Singapore breaking from Malaysia, and Pakistand splitting from India
These times were particulcarly chalenging everwhere, and questioning of National identities and also of power and decisions structures became the norm (pre-WWII people accepted them
maybe people in N Africa got a bit fed up with the 1939 - 1949 war in the desert and the German attempted grabbing of oil in the neighbourhood ? Or maybe they were/are semi nomadic in the first place ?
