@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

A negative number is not allowed for angle measures. Negative angles make no sense

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hint: for any triangle, the angles must add to 180 degrees

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

I figured... so does x=5?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how did you get x = 5?

myininaya (myininaya):

@Gokuporter what equation did you solve to get that value?

myininaya (myininaya):

here is another hint if jim's did not work for you say you have a triangle with degree measures A, B, and C then A+B+C=180

myininaya (myininaya):

its the same thing just written differently :p

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

(3x+25)=(x-5)

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

Yeah I know what jim is talking about

myininaya (myininaya):

then that is where you are going wrong

myininaya (myininaya):

you aren't adding up your angle measures and setting equal to 180 and solving for x

myininaya (myininaya):

you should be solving (x-5)+(x)+(3x+25)=180

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

Oh okay I will try that

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

x=32

myininaya (myininaya):

awesome

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

That answer was wrong the correct answer is 121

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

@Gokuporter you should have plugged x = 32 back in for angle G angle G = 3x + 25 angle G = 3*32+25 angle G = 96+25 angle G = 121 degrees
