This one seems to be about my old nemesises "depth of focus" and "depth of field" in imaging systems in optics. 9) I can't see the the balls, but sounds as though B has left some lenses in the Escort, and the lenses have focussed a bit of sunlight+infrared+uv on to something and made things very warm indeed, and possibly dangerous. Or, the heat in the E simply started to melt the balls, to a gunge.
