OpenStudy (michaela0118):

why is mitosis important to eukaryotic organisms?

OpenStudy (fandoms02):

Eukaryotic cells are plant and animal cells really. If you remember what Mitosis does; creates more cells for bodily functions for the organism, then the answer is simple. Think of mitosis as making an organism grow; the more an organism grows the more cells need to be replenished, in order for that organism to live. :)

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Very true. To add on to this point, mitosis is essential for all eukaryotic cells, considering this is the only way that body cells (beside sex cells) reproduce and can allow the organism to grow. Mitosis takes place in somatic (body) cells. For humans, it is essential to our lives.

OpenStudy (fandoms02):

@brittanyrolfe yepp! That's pretty much the basics of it. :)
