OpenStudy (rye2581):

Given the points (10, 2) and (-7, -9) find the slope.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

There's a standard, much-used formula for the slope of a line connecting 2 given points. Look up "slope" on the 'Net if need be. Apply that formula to the 2 given points. Pls show your work.

OpenStudy (rye2581):

That more so what im looking for the slope intercept form.

OpenStudy (amorfide):

\[m=\frac{ y_{2}-y_{1} }{ x_{2}-x_{1} }\] where m is the gradient the y2 y1 x2 x1 represent the values from the coordinates

OpenStudy (rye2581):

I got -7/-17 and slope intercept is y=mx+b ? im so confused I havent done this is so long.

OpenStudy (amorfide):

it is only asking for the slope

OpenStudy (rye2581):

yes

OpenStudy (amorfide):

so you don't need slope intercept form

OpenStudy (amorfide):

just use the formula I gave and that is your answer

OpenStudy (rye2581):

perfect thank you so much!

OpenStudy (amorfide):

for the record -9-2=-11

OpenStudy (amorfide):

so you should have -11/-17 the negative sign cancels 11/17

OpenStudy (rye2581):

I did -9-(-2) and got -7

OpenStudy (amorfide):

your coordinate says (10,2) that is a positive 2 hence it would be -9-(2)

OpenStudy (rye2581):

awhh I see it now, Thank you
