OpenStudy (macaylam):

Please I need help answering this Which of the following polynomials are in standard form? x^2 + 3x + 2 <--- I think this one q^3 – 15q + 12q^2 – 16 4a + a^2 + a – 2 <-- I think this one 3x^4 + 4x^3 – 3x^2 – 1 3t^3 + 3t^2 + 2t <-- I think this one 14 + a^3 – 6a + 8a^2

OpenStudy (amorfide):

I think standard form would be in descending order, your first one would be correct your second would not, since it goes power of 1, power of 2, power of 1, power of 0 you would have to go in descending order which means highest power first, then second highest, then third highest your third is correct

OpenStudy (macaylam):

how does the first one go in power of 1 to power of 2 to power of 1?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

your first one is correct, the second one is what I said is in the wrong power order

OpenStudy (amorfide):

for example \[ax^{3}+bx^{2}+cx+d\] this goes power 3, power 2, power 1, power 0, of x (or whatever variable you use) this is standard form

OpenStudy (macaylam):

Is there any other ones that are in standard form other than the two?

OpenStudy (macaylam):

3x^4 + 4x^3 – 3x^2 – 1 this one?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

3x^4 + 4x^3 – 3x^2 – 1 this one is standard form since the power starts at the highest number and decreases by one each time

OpenStudy (amorfide):

you had 2 right 4a + a^2 + a – 2 this one is wrong

OpenStudy (amorfide):

3x^4 + 4x^3 – 3x^2 – 1 so the two that you got right, and this one is your answer

OpenStudy (macaylam):

so the last one is wrong because it goes from 3 to 1 to 2?

OpenStudy (macaylam):

this one 14 + a^3 – 6a + 8a^2

OpenStudy (amorfide):

yeah taht would not be right, since it goes 0,3,1,2

OpenStudy (macaylam):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (macaylam):

Can you help me with another one?
