OpenStudy (skarlettrose186):

Find the domain of the following piecewise function. https://aoa.sooschools.com/media/g_alg01_ccss_2016/3/g_alg01u03l26_q06_ps.gif [0,5) (0,5] [-1,5) (-1,5]

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Try this: Look carefully at the function definition given. This function is defined ONLY for some x, not for all x. For which x values is this function defined? Please respond by typing out one or more sets of input values for which the function is defined.

OpenStudy (skarlettrose186):

I'm still really confused. I don't know how to solve these kind of functions

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Some functions are defined for all x. For example, y=x^2 is defined for all x. Other functions are defined only for specific x-values. For example, y=x^3, [1, 2] states that y=x^3 (an example of the cubing function) is defined only for x=1, x=2 and all x values in between. Thus, the domain is [0,1]. Please take another look at the given function. For which x-values is it defined?
