OpenStudy (chycora):

In "Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now" by A. E. Housman, what could be a symbol for something that goes away much too quickly? A. Woodlands B. Spring C. Cherry blossoms D. Years

OpenStudy (chycora):

@AloneS

OpenStudy (otherworldly):

B spring is short

sammixboo (sammixboo):

You have to look at all the options. Years, those don't but too quickly, but seasons do (especially spring)

OpenStudy (osprey):

possibly "blossoms" ... as a possible allusion to shakespeare's "The stages of man" ... "Tomorrow blossoms and bears it's blushing honours ... " (down hill from there)

OpenStudy (osprey):

I'd also wonder whether "cherry blossoms" is being used as a verbal noun or gerund, with possibly a play on that ambiguity.

OpenStudy (chycora):

your right @osprey

OpenStudy (osprey):

@chycora ah blessssssss .... thanks for letting me know :):):)

OpenStudy (chycora):

OpenStudy (osprey):
