The `red lines` indicate that two sides are equal. This would mean this is an isosceles triangle. `An isosceles triangle has two equal sides and angles`. So `Angle A is equal to Angle B`. \(\LARGE\bf{\angle A = \angle B}\) Substitute. \(\LARGE\bf{50=2x}\) What would `x` be if you divide both sides by 2?

25

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Nice :) `best to know the way to find x if it is ever needed ;)` Now that we know the two angles equal 50 we can find what `angle C` would be. Since a triangle has a total degree of `180` we would add up all the angles to get that total angle. \(\LARGE\bf{ \angle A + \angle B + \angle C = 180}\) Substitute. `Remember angle B equals 50`. \(\LARGE\bf{50+50+(5y+10)=180}\) \(\LARGE\bf\color{orange}{110+5y=180}\)

563blackghost (563blackghost):

We subtract `110` from both sides. \(\LARGE\bf{\color{red}{110-}{110 + 5y=180}{\color{red}{-110}}}\) \(\LARGE\bf{5y=70}\) What would y be if we divide by 5 from both sides?

OpenStudy (narissa):

y=14

Thank you so much!

No problem ;)
