OpenStudy (emandem):

Why is the sky Blue?

OpenStudy (royalranger):

Because the blue section of the electromagnetic spectrum gets scattered the most in earths atmosphere due to its shorter wavelength. This is known as Rayleigh Scattering.

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Also, color appears as "color" because of absorbance and transmittance of visible light. So the sky absorbs all colors except for blue. Due to this reflecting, the sky appears blue :)

OpenStudy (chpatterson):

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colors because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.
