OpenStudy (cxelix):

What are the coordinates of the orthocenter of △XYZ with vertices at X(−3,3), Y(1,3), and Z(-3,0)?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Ortho center. How to calculate that one... Is it the midpoints? the perpendicular bisectors. No, how about the average of the vertices? I have it, this one is the intersection of the Altitudes!!! It is confusing. 1) Find the slope of two sides. 2) Construct the equation of the line with perpendicular slope THROUGH the opposite vertex (point-slope form can be very helpful). 3) Find the intersection of the two lines (altitudes). 4) You can also do this with the third side, but you should get the same point of intersection unless something goes horribly wrong.
