[FAN + MEDAL] I'm having trouble deciding which poem addresses 'Death' which way. Compare the poems by Szymborska and Milosz read over the course of this unit. All are important twentieth century writers addressing a similar theme: death. Which poets address it in terms of the times they live in (and its threat of fascism) and which address it in a more personal way? Characterize each poet’s treatment of this theme, citing evidence from the poems.
The poems are "A Contribution to Statistics" and "And Yet the Books"
@TheSmartOne have you read either of these poems?
Szymborska is a polish poet, essayist, translator and recipient of the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature, her poetry contains ironic precision allows the historical and biological context come to life while Milosz was a poet, propose writer, translator and a diplomat who has a poems that mostly is translated in to his country's language and also speaks out what is truth and truly is happening.
I hope that helped! :)
It would have helped if that wouldn't of been the same exact answer from another question. Copying answers that aren't even near the answer is quite some "help".
It's really asking quite a bit to hope that a helper will look up two poems, read and digest them for you. Could you possibly start an essay discussing the thoughts of these 2 diff. poets and comparing them? Then you could ask for feedback on your composition, grammar, and so on.
@mathmale , I forgot I didin't link the poems. I only chose to post this question as the poems are very short and it shouldn't take long to read/digest them. I have a difficult time getting the bigger picture of a poem. But yes, I understand that it is a hard asking a helper to read two short poems and digest them, but when a "helper" goes out of their way to google an answer from other websites that anyone reading the question can clearly tell is not a correct answer, that bothers me. If you don't know/don't want to help, simply dont. It's better than giving answers that aren't correct in this certain question.
