A proportional relationship between the number of pounds of potatoes (x) and the price in dollars (y) is graphed, and the ordered pair (4, 3) is on the graphed line. Part A: What is the price of 1 pound of potatoes? Show your work, including the proportion you used to determine the price. (8 points) Part B: What does the ordered pair (8, 6) on the graph represent? Explain in words. (2 points)

Will you just be shouting out names or perhaps could you share some of YOUR work?

i was on pa.....

OpenStudy (mathmale):

this is a case of direct proportion. Your line is described by an equation of the form y=mx+b, where m is the slope (or proportionality constant). Reread the problem statement. What does the variable y represent? What does the variable x represent? are you able to draw a straight line thru the points (0,0) and (4,3)? Show it in the Draw utility, below.

OpenStudy (jerry45):

(8, 6) = 8$ for 6 pounds of potatoes

OpenStudy (mathmale):

sorry, but no. Did you intentionally ignore my request that you graph this line? It goes through (0,0) and (3,4). Label each axis with the name of what it represents. For example, the horiz. (or x-) axis represents the number of pounds of potatoes.

OpenStudy (jerry45):

there is no graph

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"Did you intentionally ignore my request that you graph this line? It goes through (0,0) and (3,4). " Jerry: I asked YOU to graph it. Use the slope formula to determine the slope of this line.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If x represents the # of pounds of potatoes, then what does y represent? (8,6) is incorrect, because you have 8 and 6 in the wrong order. Try again. What does (6,8) represent?
