Can someone check my work and show work If A= 10.5 in and C= 37.5 in, what is the length of B? https://media.studyisland.com/pics/67962q10pyth.PNG A. 27 in B. 36 in C. 31.5 in D. 40.5 in

OpenStudy (tate_langdon):

I say the answer is B

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Your answer is correct. Did you use the Pythagorean theorem to find it?

OpenStudy (tate_langdon):

Yeah but can you show me why you think i'm right

OpenStudy (tate_langdon):

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Why not look up "Phythagorean Theorem" for a review of what it is and what it's used for? You have a right triangle here. The lengths of the 2 shorter sides are 10.5 inches and 37.5 inches. Please square each of these two figures.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Add your squares together and find the square root of the sum. THAT is the length of your hypotenuse. Again, please look up the Pyth. Thm. and compare your findings to this discussion.
