yea and you can obviously see that the tree is half the size of the building
OpenStudy (three_lit_for_ya_fam):
and i also measured it with my screen ruler
OpenStudy (helpmeplsoml):
can you help with more?
OpenStudy (three_lit_for_ya_fam):
lol im trash but okay
OpenStudy (welshfella):
use similar triangles
the triangle made by the tree and the one made by the building are similar rs sorresponding sides are in the same ratio

Assuming the rope touches the top of the tree, then by similar triangles, the building must be
32 feet tall

OpenStudy (welshfella):
AB / DB = AC / DE
AB / AD = 2/1 and DE = 16
so 2/1 = AC / 16
AC = 32 = height of the building
OpenStudy (three_lit_for_ya_fam):
here

* that should be AB / DB = 2/1 (second line)
OpenStudy (three_lit_for_ya_fam):
that explains it all
OpenStudy (three_lit_for_ya_fam):

No
you cant say that AB = IK beacuse you are told nothing about the lengths of these lines.
OpenStudy (welshfella):
you know that IK = JK because AB bisects IK also you know that the angles between AB and IK are right angles
