Could a health crisis similar to the Black Death happen today? Why or why not? I am sorry I keep on asking questions I am not good at history but ths would really help me. Thanks :)
1 and V V Important. I am sorry I keep on asking questions - why be sorry for being inquisitive ? I am not good at history - who says ? Well, since telling the future is very difficult indeed, then it is presumably difficult to "know". Could a health crisis similar to the Black Death happen today? To try to answer this question, I'd need far more information on the nature of the Black Death (other than that the victims tended to go black ... ). Such information as where it occurred, how long it lasted, how many victims, and theories as to the causes. If, then a modern day pandemic or epidemic broke out - there have been several in recent years/decades, then attempting to compare them on a like for like statistical basis would help. Mulling over the question, I'd wonder whether the disease that happened in Africa fairly recently may, although it wasn't referred to as such, have been comparable in "body count" to that of the BD. Perhaps one reason why this q seems (to me) to be tricky, is that it's hinting at saying that medical science is better/smarter now than it was in the BD's time. But, there's also a theory that the diseases have got better/smarter too. A sort of "germ arms race" to borrow from the military. Sorry to be so boring, and/but just to sign off I'd like to repeat my opening lines . why be sorry for being inquisitive ? "knowledge of my lack of knowledge helps me to learn things .... " (off the cuff thought that may help ... )
thank you so much it really helped a lot. :)
@Scruz2022 Good that it helped, good on you for asking, and, well, good, basically.
