OpenStudy (sunnnystrong):

Recall that: 3rd person possessive adjectives include: her, his, its, theirs

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Jenna washed her hands before she ate. Does a word in the sentence above show that something belongs to someone?

OpenStudy (sunnnystrong):

@derricklewis what do you think?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

When you say "my book", the word "my" means that the book belongs to you. "my" shows possession. "your house" means the house that is yours. "your" also shows possession. What about "her hands"? What does "her" mean?

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

i think B.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Looking at the choices again: A. Jenna washed her hands before she ate. "her" is a possessive pronoun. B. Marty’s brother ran the mile at the track meet. "Marty's" is a possessive adjective (at least, that's what I would call it) C. This sauce isn’t very hot. This sentence has no possessive pronoun or adjective.

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

B.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

It seems that possessive pronouns and possessive adjectives are the same thing according to the link above.
