help please with number 5 http://prnt.sc/e6n9y2

xXMarcelieXx:

@mathmale

celticcat:

In R^2 x = 4 represents a line parallell yo the y-axis.

celticcat:

in R^3 it represents the vertical plane parallel to the yz plane and 4 units in front of it.

xXMarcelieXx:

|dw:1486752791211:dw| r^2 is 2d right?

celticcat:

yes

celticcat:

r^3 is 3d

xXMarcelieXx:

okay so what does it mean: what does it represent in R^3 ?

celticcat:

i explained that I#m not too good at diagrams though Check this one out:- pot.pcc.edu/~jkissick/spring/math254evenhomeworkanswers.pdf

sillybilly123:

equation of a plane [ in \(\mathcal R^3\)] is \(ax + by + cz = d\) where \(\langle a,b,c\rangle\) is the plane's normal vector so pattern match for x = 4

xXMarcelieXx:

hmm i dont think ive learned vectors yet

SemiDefinite:

where in this 3-D space is x always equal to 4? |dw:1486763269125:dw| y and z can be absolutely anything you like, but x has to be equal to 4

xXMarcelieXx:

hmmm but how you know its yz?
